Austin and San Antonio Data Centers
Austin Colocation, Round Rock and San Marcos, San Antonio’s Westover Hills Campuses, and Choosing Between Two Markets 1.2 ms Apart
Central Texas gives you two markets about 120 km apart: Austin for the tech corridor and San Antonio for lower-cost, large-scale capacity. We find the building that fits your requirement in either and negotiate the terms, at no cost to you.
Price My Austin or San Antonio RequirementAustin colocation suits companies that want space close to their engineering teams: software companies, chip designers and the many tech offices along the I-35 corridor. San Antonio offers more room and lower costs, and it is one of Microsoft's major hubs, which brings hyperscale infrastructure and fiber to the west side of the city. This page covers both markets, the providers and submarkets, how Texas power rules affect new capacity, and how to get space. Statewide context is on Texas data centers.

San Antonio Data Centers
San Antonio's data centers concentrate in Westover Hills on the west side, where Microsoft built one of its major hubs and CyrusOne runs a multi-building campus. Microsoft's footprint extends further west toward Castroville in Medina County, and Vantage Data Centers is developing a new campus in the city. The city is also home to Rackspace's headquarters and a large base of military and government infrastructure.

Power in Central Texas
Austin and San Antonio are served by municipal utilities, Austin Energy and CPS Energy, both on the ERCOT grid. New large loads of 75 MW and more fall under the 2025 law known as SB 6, and on August 3, 2026 Texas paused new data center interconnection approvals while it audits ERCOT's large-load queue. Colocation in existing, energized buildings is unaffected; new multi-megawatt and AI requirements should confirm energization dates in writing. Detail is on Texas data centers.
AI and GPU Capacity
Austin's tech companies and chip designers drive steady demand for GPU racks, and San Antonio's large campuses suit bigger AI deployments. Air-cooled GPU cabinets fit at several facilities in both markets; rack-scale liquid-cooled systems need halls built for them. See AI and GPU colocation and direct to chip cooling.
What Austin and San Antonio Colocation Costs
Both markets generally price below coastal markets, with San Antonio's large campuses keeping wholesale space competitive. Benchmarks are on the colocation pricing guide.
