Utah Data Centers
Salt Lake City Colocation, West Jordan and Bluffdale, the Eagle Mountain Campuses, and the NSA’s Utah Data Center
Utah combines low natural-disaster risk, a cool, dry climate and fast-growing wholesale campuses within about 6 ms of Las Vegas and Denver. We find the Salt Lake City space that fits your requirement and negotiate the terms, at no cost to you.
Price My Utah RequirementMost people searching for the Utah data center are looking for the NSA facility at Camp Williams, which is covered below. For companies, Salt Lake City is a useful Western market: cooler and drier than Phoenix, far from hurricanes and wildfire-prone coastlines, and close enough to Las Vegas, Denver, Phoenix and California to serve the whole region or act as their recovery site. This page covers the Salt Lake City data center market, the providers and campuses, what Utah colocation suits, and how to get space.

The NSA's Utah Data Center
The National Security Agency's Utah Data Center sits at Camp Williams in Bluffdale, south of Salt Lake City. Completed in 2014 at a reported cost of about $1.5 billion, it draws about 65 MW across four 25,000-square-foot data halls within a much larger complex, built to support the U.S. intelligence community's computing and storage needs. It is a government facility, not available for colocation. It is also why "Utah data center" draws thousands of searches a month, and why Bluffdale is home to commercial campuses too: the same land, power and fiber that drew the NSA drew DataBank's Granite Point campus nearby.
Novva, Aligned and DataBank
Novva Data Centers
A 100-acre campus in West Jordan with about 1.5 million square feet planned across four phases, supporting deployments from 250 kW to 30 MW. Novva secured about $2 billion in financing in 2025 to finish it.
Aligned Data Centers
A wholesale campus in West Jordan with several buildings (SLC-01, SLC-02 and SLC-03), designed for high-density and hyperscale tenants.
DataBank
The downtown SLC1 carrier hotel site plus the Granite Point campus in Bluffdale, which has a private power substation for high-density deployments.
Eagle Mountain and the Hyperscale Build-Out
Eagle Mountain, southwest of the metro, is where Utah's largest campuses are going: Meta's operational campus, QTS's campus under construction, and further planned parks. These are mostly single-tenant hyperscale projects, but they add fiber and power infrastructure that benefits the wider market.
Why Salt Lake City
MCA calculation from straight-line distance, about 1 ms round trip per 100 km; real fiber routes are longer. Free to cite with a link to this page.
Climate
Cool, dry air allows more hours of outside-air cooling than hot or humid markets.
Natural hazards
Away from hurricanes and coastal wildfire risk. The Wasatch Fault does carry earthquake risk, so check each building's seismic design.
Recovery site
Far enough from California, Phoenix and Las Vegas to avoid their shared risks, close enough to replicate.
Tech workforce
The Silicon Slopes corridor between Salt Lake City and Provo supplies engineering talent.
What Utah Colocation Costs
Salt Lake City generally prices below California and comparably to other Western secondary markets, with large wholesale campuses keeping larger deployments competitive. Retail cabinets downtown cost more per kW than wholesale space in West Jordan or Bluffdale. Benchmarks are on the colocation pricing guide.
Who Utah Data Centers Suit
Western recovery sites
For primaries in California, Las Vegas, Phoenix or Denver.
Wholesale and AI tenants
Space and power at the West Jordan and Bluffdale campuses.
Silicon Slopes companies

Regional enterprises
Utah and Mountain West companies needing reliable local colocation.
Utah and Other Markets
Salt Lake City pairs with Los Angeles, San Francisco, Phoenix and Denver for Western footprints and recovery, and with Texas and Chicago for national reach.
